Yes, I’ve been away since graduation, trying to figure out how to live beyond the framework of school.  Doing what I want has not been that easy, and trying to keep up with cleaning all the things isn’t that easy either. My kid has been a huge help; I think if I had graduated before having RyBread, I would have melted away into a smelly pile of pajamas on the couch.

Me and RyBread, Graduation Day

Having a kid is great for a lot of reasons.  Having a human alarm clock is great (most of the time.) They break your day up into manageable chunks. They force you to wash clothes once in a while.

But I have to say that one of my favorite is that they make ok for you to indulge in kid shows again (like I ever quit watching kid shows in the first place…)

After graduation, I power-slammed Avatar: The Last Airbender.  And I will straight up admit it: I thought, before I started watching the show, that it really was a KID kid show.  I mean like, a little kid show.  But I was wrong, and I’m sorry.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is Awesome!

And I’m even more excited because I only half missed the boat on this one;  Avatar: The Legend of Korra has barely begun!Mako, Korra, and Bolin

The Legend of Korra takes place two generations after The Last Airbender, so you don’t necessarily have to watch The Last Airbender to catch up with Korra (although I highly recommend it.  It’s on Netflix.) Some of the characters from the Last Airbender are still around, much older of course, and many of their progeny make appearances, but the show is a unique entity.  The world has changed completely, and the setting is almost like a 20′s and 30′s era Shanghai.  The tone of the series is much more serious than The Last Airbender, but in a good way.  The Last Airbender was exciting, but The Legend of Korra is downright thrilling.  I find the villain, Amon, truly scary.

We’re planning to do some family Avatar cosplay for this Halloween if we can get our stuff together.
